Jarvis looking for new running mate
After leading Kent State in rushing last year with 798 yards, sophomore Eugene Jarvis returns as the front-end of the Golden Flashes' 1-2 punch in the backfield. The departure of Tony Howard has Jarvis looking for a new backfield mate.
"With Tony being gone, that kind of hurts," said the 5-foot-5, 165-pound Jarvis. "Being that he left, somebody has to still step in. We still have running backs that possess different qualities that can help this team. Hopefully we'll get more chemistry and things will be better off for us."
Vying for the No. 2 spot behind Jarvis is senior Jon Drager, who has 149 career rushing yards, and sophomore Greg Keys, who redshirted last season after converting to defensive back after his freshman season. He rushed for 63 yards in 2005.
Jarvis is excited about what he has seen so far this spring.
"Things are going good," he said. "It feels good to get back on the field and lather it up and work on some things that hurt us during the season."
