Gary Johnson preparing for the next level
There may not be a player more competitive in the 2007 class than Aldine forward Gary Johnson. The future Texas Longhorn plays the game with a toughness and passion that's rarely seen in today's game. With the characteristics Johnson possesses, it should come as no surprise that his attitude in preparing for the upcoming Jordan Classic All-Star is that of strictly business.
Johnson led the Aldine Mustangs to a 33-2 record as a senior, averaging 27 points, 13.2 rebounds and more than three blocks per game. While the Mustangs didn't advance to the state tournament as he had hoped, Johnson took his game up a notch in the Mustangs' playoff run.
With the season behind Johnson, the 230-pound forward has passed on the opportunity to take a break and rest and he is instead focusing on getting stronger and staying in the tiptop shape for which he is known.
