Elite athlete DeRozan a bigtime prospect to behold
California is loaded with elite level 2008 basketball prospects, with more than a dozen in the state ranked among the Top-100 in the national class by Rivals.com. Among them, the player who may be the most visually exciting is Compton High star wing guard Demar DeRozan, a 6-foot-5, 205-pounder who is currently the No. 55 prospect in the class.
Playing for Percy Miller's (know to some by his hip-hop moniker, "Master P") P. Miller Ballers, DeRozan showcased his freakish athleticism in front of big crowds during the AAU basketball season in the spring/summer months over the last couple years.
In 2005 DeRozan won a dunk contest at Nike's Main Event AAU Tournament in Las Vegas, besting such high profile names as O.J. Mayo, Bill Walker, Thaddeus Young, Greg Oden and Spencer Hawes.
