KU playing for championship
The top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (29-4, 14-2) entered Saturday's match up with in-state rival Kansas State (22-11, 10-6) already having swept the season series with the Wildcats, but as any college basketball fan knows; tournament time is a completely different beast. Mario Chalmers led the Jayhawks with 16 points, lifting KU in round three of the Sunflower Showdown, 67-61. Kansas will now take the court in Sunday's championship game against the Texas Longhorns (24-8, 12-4), who defeated Oklahoma State.
Despite KU's dominance of the Wildcats in the past, Saturday's semi-final in Oklahoma City, Okla., was nothing like the past. As Kansas head coach Bill Self stated after the game, it had a feeling of two teams trying to achieve goals, and not so much about playing for hatred of each other.
