Day 1 wrapup: Excitement, hype, energy

Randy Shannon's first spring practice as head coach saw players hustling from station to station and a field full of position battles.
"There's no defensive back depth chart," cornerback [db]Glenn Sharpe[/db] said after drills ended. "We all got reps."
Indeed, there are no set first-teamers right now, as Shannon told the media yesterday.
What there is right now is a lot of guys battling and showing a lot of energy.
"Practice was great," offensive lineman [db]Derrick Morse[/db] said. "It's everything you expect from the first day. Everyone's excited, hyped up to play, a lot of energy."
Sharpe added, "It was guys getting in the full swing of things, guys running around, the whole team looked enthusiastic. I thought the first day was pretty good, a good attitude. But there's a lot of room for improvement."
