Gottfried owns up for Tide failure
One day after seeing his team collapse on the road along with their hopes for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, Alabama head coach Mark Gottfried took responsibility on Monday for what he calls a disappointing season.
"I think that we've had a disappointing year and it's frustrating," Gottfried said. The Tide wrapped up its season on Sunday with a 91-67 loss to Mississippi State that may have ended the Tide's hopes at a tournament bid.
"This team has shown at times it can be as good as anybody," Gottfried said. "Then there have been other times where we have met that threshold - in the second half against Auburn and the second half yesterday - where we needed to respond better and we have gone the other way. That has been a concern for me."
