AU defeats LSU; one win away from title
Early in the second half of Wednesday's game against LSU, Auburn associate head coach John Cooper pulled his players into a timeout huddle for a few angry words.
What he said will be lost to history forever - though, to judge by his expression, it probably wasn't fit to print.
But whatever he said, it paid off.
The reminder kick-started Auburn's offense and keyed the Tigers' 80-68 win over slumping LSU.
Cooper's words helped spark a 23-6 AU run, short-circuiting LSU's offense and igniting the 6,551-strong Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum crowd.
The win moved AU (17-13, 7-8 SEC) into a four-way tie for first place in the SEC's Western Division.
