Tide falls to Auburn at home
TUSCALOOSA - Just a week after upsetting Kentucky, the No. 25 Alabama Crimson Tide (19-9, 6-8) find themselves in dire straights after dropping their second straight SEC game to the Auburn Tigers 86-77. The loss puts the Crimson Tide's NCAA Tournament status in doubt and gives Auburn its first sweep in the series since 1999 and its second win in Tuscaloosa in the last 23 years.
"The problem today was we were not good defensively," head coach Mark Gottfried said. "That has been the case with our team too many times this year, especially today around the interior. I thought Richard Hendrix, late in the game, did a lot of things well. I just think that defensively, we struggled through the whole night and that was the bottom line."
