Tide wins big over Kentucky
A fast start and a strong defense gave the No. 25 Alabama Crimson Tide an early lead over Kentucky similar to the one they took over the No.1 Florida Gators earlier in the week. Unlike the game in Gainesville, however, the Tide were able to hold off a second half run by the Wildcats and hang on to their lead earning their biggest conference win of the season at home 72-61.
"I was proud of our guys today," head coach Mark Gottfried said. "Our defense early in the game was good. In the second half, I thought we did a very good job. Our perimeter guys, Justin Tubbs and Brandon Hollinger really helped us defensively more than anything, It was good to see Ronald Steele have a little bounce in his step today and I think he feels a little quicker and a little bit better. Richard Hendrix made some big plays. It was just a good team win for us."
