Bedlam Round II
There could be the finishing touch on a Bedlam reversal of fortune if Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma tonight.
Most of this season, OSU has been seen as the better team with higher expectations. Meanwhile, OU has been seen as a bad team with little to no expectations.
But as of now, the mindsets on both teams has started to shift. The No. 17 Cowboys (18-4 overall, 4-3 Big 12) seem to be flatlining, as goals of a top four conference finish and high NCAA Tournament seeds start to get murky. Meanwhile, the Sooners (13-8, 4-4) are riding an upward swing and are seemingly on the rise after many gave them no shot at being competitive this season.
Several weeks ago, OSU hosted OU in the first Bedlam meeting of the season. At that time, the Cowboys were coming off a hard loss at Texas A&M and a big triple-overtime win at home against Texas. Now, the Cowboys are coming off one of the worst losses in program history. How will they respond against the Sooners? We'll all find out soon enough, as the Pokes travel south to Norman for an 8 p.m. contest against OU, which will be televised by ESPN Plus (KOCB-34 in Oklahoma City and Stillwater; KJRH-2 in northeastern Oklahoma).
Bedlam is always big, but this game is huge for the Cowboys. It's always tough to win in the Big 12 on the road, but OSU has to figure out a way to win tonight to save face on what was a promising season not too long ago. Losing to the Sooners - forget that they ARE a better club than anyone expected this season - would be a second-straight poor loss for the Cowboys.
