Bridging the defensive line gap(s)
Crunch the numbers. Tabulate them again. Twist and turn the theories inside and out. Change to a defensive alignment that requires one less body with a hand on the ground if you must.
Any way you look at it, Notre Dame's recruiting hauls along the defensive line in the last five years have left the Irish pinned against the wall, painted into a corner, in great need of a few rags-to-riches stories to survive the eight-game onslaught that awaits at the start of the 2007 season.
