Hoffarber leads Hopkins over Nolen's Patriots
Tonight Hopkins remained undefeated with an 85-73 victory over Minneapolis Henry. The size and talented depth of the Royals was to much led by the 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists from Gopher commit Blake Hoffarber. Al Nolen Jr. had a rough start to his night when he picked up two fouls and had to sit the remainder of the first half.
Coming into the game, both teams were undefeated and with the attention this game received by media and the area basketball community, the players were considerably hyped. This led to several early turnovers and fouls as five television cameras looked on. Also in the stands was Gopher coach Jim Molinari and several of his players including Henry alum Lawrence McKenzie and center Spencer Tollackson. Many area college coaches were in attendance as was Northern Iowa assistant coach Kyle Green.
The biggest casualty of the foul trouble was Nolen who picked up two charging calls in the game's first three minutes of play. The direct result was a seat on the Henry bench for Nolen until the second half. Taking the first charge was Hoffarber one of two Blake drew on the evening.
