Texas gets a quarterback
When you combine Texas and quarterback recruiting, it's always a recipe for an interesting story and things held true to form on Thursday with a shocking turn of events.
Just eight days after John Brantley switched his pledge from Texas to Florida, the Longhorn staff has gone out and found another quarterback to help round out its 2007 recruiting class.
Gilmer quarterback G.J. Kinne, a longtime Baylor commitment, officially switched his pledge this week in a move that caught the recruiting world by complete surprise and happened in the span of a couple of days.
Kinne, whose father was hired by Baylor as the team's linebackers coach last summer, was on Texas' radar very early in the recruiting process but Texas never offered and eventually picked up commitments from John Chiles and Brantley. After his father took the job at Baylor, Kinne wound up choosing the Bears over schools like Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Tennessee but things changed this week when Texas came calling.
