Wooten recruiting Shrine Bowlers to UNC
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Laurinburg (N.C.) Scotland County place kicker Jay Wooten is taking advantage of his Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas opportunity to forge relationships with several of his future teammates, along with spreading the word about North Carolina to other prospects.
In addition to the practice sessions and opportunity to converse with his North Carolina teammates, Wooten was happy that he had a chance to visit the Shriner's Hospital, which gave him additional perspective about the real reason the Shrine Bowl is played each year.
Wooten has been in Chapel Hill since the hiring of Butch Davis, as he came for the UNC-Ohio State basketball game in the Smith Center. Wooten was thrilled with the opportunity to meet Davis, and he came away from the experience very impressed.
