NU Notes: Callahan turns it up a notch on Sunday
Since suffering a disappointing 21-7 to Oklahoma on Dec. 2, the Nebraska football team got right back to work with two very intense practices on Saturday and Sunday.
Head coach Bill Callahan led his team through a four-hour work day on Sunday that concluded with a live scrimmage in the Hawks Championship Indoor Facility that featured primarily NU's younger players.
Callahan said that freshman cornerback Corey Young and sophomore running back Thomas Lawson were two of several players that caught his eye during Sunday's scrimmage.
"Our kids, especially our younger players did a nice job," Callahan said. "We scrimmaged at length with our (No. 3 units) and our younger players-our freshmen primarily. They did some awfully good things.
"All and all it was a great day for our young players to get this type of experience in a format where we can just focus on them. We also got a lot of work in with our veteran team and focused a little bit and just touched base a little bit on Auburn. But not to the extent we'll do next week as we come in off the road."
