'Season on the line' against Mizzou
Since the first day of fall camp last August, Nebraska football coaches and players have been talking about the team's primary goal this season - winning the Big 12 Conference North Division championship.
Saturday's matchup against Missouri will go a long way in determining whether or not the Huskers achieve that goal.
The Tigers and Huskers enter the game with identical 3-2 conference records and the winner will take the upper hand in punching a ticket to the Big 12 title game Dec. 2 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
"We need this game more than ever now. We always needed to beat Missouri, but now we know our season is really on the line here," NU quarterback Zac Taylor said Tuesday. "This is a game where we're going to have to step up and everybody's going to have to play their best game of the year. If that doesn't motivate you, then there's some problems there, but I think everybody's going to be pretty motivated by this game."
The winner of Saturday's showdown at Memorial Stadium-Tom Osborne Field will have the cushion of a one-game lead in the divisional standings with only two conference games left on the schedule.
