Sooners ready for up-tempo offense
The past twenty five years have been a rollercoaster for the Oklahoma basketball program.
Success has hardly been the issue. In fact, the Sooners continue to hold the longest active streak in Division I basketball when it comes to consecutive postseason appearances. Not to mention two visits to the Final Four.
The coaching style has caused the most fluctuation internally with the basketball program. Success has been constant, but one could argue interest has been waning for years since the exit of the fast-paced, high-flying "Billy-Ball" with Billy Tubbs at the helm and the arrival of the defensive-minded coaching style of the Kelvin Sampson era.
Where does new head coach, Jeff Capel, file into the discussion?
According to his players, somewhere in between.
"Coach Capel is a transition guy," said Oklahoma center Longar Longar.
