Field General: Redshirt freshman Colt McCoy (6-3, 195) emerged as the Longhorns' No. 1 signal caller after a fierce preseason battle with fellow frosh Jevan Snead (6-3, 215). McCoy has performed admirably in filling the void left by the departure of Vince Young who guided the Horns to their first national championship in 25 years last season. McCoy has completed 69 percent of his passes (101-of-147) for 18 touchdowns and 1,229 yards.
