One Last Shot at UT for Peterson
Adrian Peterson heads into the Red River Rivalry looking to take the field at the Cotton Bowl one last time before an expected move to the NFL following his junior season.
For Peterson, OU's contests with Texas has been a mixed bagged of emotions. This game vaulted Peterson into the national spotlight as a freshman when he broke free for a 44-yard gain to start the 2004 meeting.
But in 2005, Peterson tried to play on a badly sprained ankle. He wasn't able to make an impact as a sophomore. His ankle wouldn't allow it.
But Peterson is healthy heading into the 2006 edition of this border war. And the Heisman Trophy candidate knows all eyes will be watching him for one last hurrah.
Peterson represents everything Texas fears in Oklahoma. He's a Heisman Trophy front-runner, he was the top player in the country coming out of Palestine High School.
He grew up a Longhorn fan with posters of Ricky Williams on his walls. And when the time to make his college choice came, he defected to the dark side. At least that's how the Longhorn faithful view his decision process.
