When any college football fan hears the name Texas Tech, passing and prolific offenses dance in their heads. But at the end of the 2006 non-conference season, the Red Raiders find themselves somewhere unfamiliar.

Not on top of the NCAA passing rankings.

They aren't too far though, as they are currently No. 3 with 336.5 yards per game through the air, but that is 84 yards behind New Mexico State.

Some of that can be attributed to the never-ending carousel of green quarterbacks earning the starting nod, as sophomore Graham Harrell is the fourth new quarterback in four seasons to start in Lubbock.

Some of it could be attributed to the loss of wide receiver Jarrett Hicks, who is now back with the team and will play against Texas A&M Saturday at Kyle Field at 2:30 p.m.

Even yet, some of it can be attributed to TCU, who shut down the Red Raider attack and held them to just three points in the game.

But the truth of the matter is that head coach Mike Leach's system works, and the spread offense is fueled by stable of wide receivers that could be more talented than anyone in the country.
