Moala is maturing
He may not have received it the way he wanted, but Fili Moala finally got his chance.
The sophomore defensive tackle made his first start against Nebraska when he filled in for the injured in for the injured Sedrick Ellis.
Despite having less than a week of practice to adjust to his new role, Moala was a force in the middle of the defensive line. The Trojan defense held the Cornhuskers to 68 yards rushing, due in part to Moala's performance.
"I feel like I did a good enough job to step up for Sedrick when I had to," said Moala, who recorded four tackles on Saturday.
The Cornhuskers tested the Trojan defensive line early and often on Saturday. Four of Nebraska's opening five offensive plays were runs. Moala took the Cornhusker offensive gameplan personally.
