DeCoud The Playmaker
The term 'playmaker' is thrown around all too often in college football. However, it's a term that clearly applies to Cal junior safety Thomas DeCoud.
The 6-3, 195-pounder has already blocked six kicks in his young career. And just a few practices into taking over as the starting safety for Cal, he's made a habit of being all over the field.
Just imagine what he'll do as a full time starter.
"I'm just trying to make as many plays as possible out there," said DeCoud, who managed an impressive 28 tackles as a reserve last year.
Blocked punts versus Sacramento State and Oregon and a blocked field goal against New Mexico State showed just how seriously he took his reserve role. He saw special teams as a way to make a name for himself.
