King held out of Lift for Life
Both senior captain Paul Posluszny and sophomore cornerback Justin King did not participate with teammates this afternoon in the fourth annual Lift for Life Challenge because of precautionary measures taken by the Penn State trainers.
Posluszny continues to rehab his right knee, which he sprained during the Orange Bowl, while King is three weeks removed from having a hernia operation.
"I had it for about six or seven months and I played through the season," King explained. "It just got a little too much. The best time to get it done is in the summer right before the season."
King added that he never told any of the coaches about his discomfort last season, which could have been a factor in his production drop off at wide receiver during the second half of the year. He only caught six passes in the final six games of the season.
"I didn't realize how serious it was until the pain started to become excruciating (this summer)," King said.
