Johnson stays in state
Gary Johnson thought about getting away from home to experience something different, but in the end staying close to family and feeling comfortable in Austin won out for the Texas Longhorns. Johnson, ranked No. 24 by Rivals.com, was looking for comfort with future teammates and coaches and he found it at Texas.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound five-star prospect averaged 25 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots per game as a junior for Aldine.
Johnson picked the Longhorns over Arizona and Kentucky after entertaining offers from college programs from coast to coast.
