Future UA backcourt shines at NBA Camp
This past week Alabama commitments Rico Pickett and Senario Hillman were in Richmond, Va., for the NBA Players Camp and the future Tide backcourt got the chance to play together for the first time. Rivals.com national analyst Jerry Meyer was on hand and came away impressed by the dynamic duo.
"Senario and Rico were on the same team and saw time in the same backcourt and they looked great together. They were impressive especially athletically and the way they seem to have bonded. They were roommates here and you could tell they got along on and off the court which is very important for two young players who are going to be playing together," Meyer said. "Both were very unselfish and I was impressed because they both wanted to win more than add to their stats. Winning was more important to them and they made sacrifices to try and help their team win. It's unfortunate that they played on a very guard heavy team which obviously cuts into their chance to shine but they didn't pout and took full advantage of their opportunities.
"One thing that really stood out to me was that both players were able to contribute without controlling the ball. Another thing is how strong they could be defensively. Alabama will be able to extend more when they get there because both players are so athletic.
"But their chemistry together was obvious and on one play Pickett drove baseline and found Hillman with a touch pass streaking towards the basket for a lay-up. It was a very instinctive play that showed they understand each other's games."
