'He's blown up'
It was a trying past weekend for Scott Martin, as the SYF Players standout was plagued by an ankle injury that severely limited his playing time in the state AAU tournament in Indianapolis.
Last Wednesday, the 6-foot-8 went up for a rebound and came down on another player's foot, badly rolling his ankle.
The injury was frustrating for Martin to deal with, but served as a rare bump in the road for a player who's quickly risen to being considered among Indiana's — if not the nation's — elite players.
A year ago at this time, Martin was playing for SYF's 16-and-under team, toiling in relative anonymity as so much attention was given to a 17-and-under team that featured Notre Dame signee Luke Harangody and red-hot juniors Rob Hummel and E'twaun Moore.
