Spiece Run 'N Slam - Day 2
Mike Pegram
Peegs.com Our Saturday morning began with our first look this year at the Spiece Central Stars. This is a central Indiana based team that we featured last month and a group that won several tournaments a year ago. This was a pool game against the AFE Wizards, a squad of players from the suburbs of Detroit.
This game was dominated in the first half by New Castle guard Zach Hahn who matched AFE's first half output all by himself with a 17 point effort to lead the Central Stars to a comfortable 45-17 advantage. They never looked back from that point. Hahn told us after the game that he is hearing from Utah, Butler and several Mid-American schools. He is a nifty point guard who showed an improved jumper over what we recalled from last year as evidenced by three first half treys. Zach said his 3A state championship New Castle team is excited about a chance to repeat and that the Trojans will be involved in the annual Marsh Hall of Fame Classic over the Christmas holiday tourney that will also feature Valparaiso, Indianapolis Cathedral and one other team at the New Caste 10,000 seat gym.
