Injuries mounting ahead of Catamounts
AUBURN | The win against Ole Miss last weekend made a firm statement about the program's overall health.
Coach Gus Malzahn doesn't want things to change Saturday.
Auburn plays Western Carolina, a Championship Subdivision team that's 0-3 against fellow FCS programs this season. The Catamounts have allowed 132 points in those three games. They also lost 45-3 at Virginia Tech last month.
Though an Oct. 19 game at Texas A&M looms large, Malzahn believes the Tigers must play better this week than they did last week. He refuses to accept anything less.
"I know I keep sounding like a broken record, but I'm looking for us to improve. It doesn't make a difference who we're playing -- Ole Miss or Western Carolina," Malzahn said Tuesday morning. "We're going to go about it the same way. We're going to have the same approach to practice with the same intensity. We're going to worry about us. That's what we need to be. We haven't arrived yet. We've got a lot of work to do."
