Years in the making
AUBURN | Ryan White spent his first fall camp at Auburn behind center.
The timing could have been better.
The Tigers in 2010 settled on a 6-foot-6 dynamo who eventually won the Heisman Trophy and now plies his trade in the NFL. White, who always pictured himself as a quarterback but whose skills fit better on defense, knew a change was in store.
The Tallahassee native moved to cornerback, an area familiar to his father, Will White, who was an All-American at Florida during late 80s and early 90s.
Despite having roots at the position, White struggled initially and needed most of two seasons just to earn a shot at playing time. After making his first start against Clemson last fall and recording seven tackles, White wasn't able to retain his spot.
