The quest for 13th
AUBURN | The Tigers' 2012-13 season will go down as a disappointment. That fact cannot be avoided.
Still, it doesn't have to be a disaster.
Auburn plays at Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon in a game that has no effect on the Southeastern Conference standings. Both teams enter with three conference wins, though one team will emerge with a fourth.
The loser finishes the regular season in the cellar.
"You never want to finish in last place," coach Tony Barbee said. "If there is anything we're playing for, it's to make sure we don't finish last in our league."
Barbee surely feels better about his chances now than he did a week ago. The Tigers finally regained some confidence on the offensive end against Tennessee on Wednesday night, connecting on 51 percent of their shots. They even went 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. <
