Bulldogs scrimmage indoors
Mississippi State planned to wrap up the first stages of bowl practices with an extensive scrimmage inside Davis Wade Stadium for its younger players.
Lingering showers throughout the Starkville area forced the Bulldogs indoors on Sunday but did not dampen their enthusiasm or effort.
"It was good, the guys had fun out there playing," said MSU head coach Dan Mullen. "That's what this is about. We're wrapping things up because tomorrow the whole focus of all this changes. This was a little minicamp that we had and you get to wrap it up with a fun scrimmage for these guys. I wish we could have gone outside in the stadium but it was good."
With the starters not even dressed out, the Bulldogs second, third and even scout team units went at it for two hours during the 115 play scrimmage. State ran 23 drives on the day resulting in four touchdowns and a field goal as well as four interceptions.
Freshman quarterback Dak Prescott completed 11-of-24 passing for 103 yards, one touchdown and one interception while fellow freshman signal caller Jamil Golden hit on 17-of-27 passing for two touchdowns and three interceptions.
