Scouting Vandy


Chris Lee of VandySports.com was kind enough to provide for us a detailed scouting report for Vanderbilt, which plays host to the Tigers this weekend.

So let's take a look at the Vanderbilt Commodores ...


THREE THINGS THAT ARE GOING WELL FOR VANDY THIS SEASON:


The kicking game. Punter Richard Kent has been terrific, averaging 45.1 yards per punt with good hang times. You may not find a more consistent punter in America, as Kent hasn't hit a bad boot in his 31 attempts so far. Field-goal kicking was a disaster last year, but Carey Spear has been good, hitting 10-of-13 tries. Spear is also fearless on kickoffs, playing like a head-hunting safety who has no regard for his own well-being.


Holding onto the ball. Only two SEC teams (Alabama, Mississippi State) have fewer turnovers than Vandy's six.
