NOTEBOOK: Grimes sticking with his top 5
AUBURN -- Jeff Grimes didn't need footage from his group's performance against Arkansas last week to confirm anything.
The Tigers conceded eight sacks. That's the story.
Yet Auburn's offensive line coach on Wednesday said he's planning to stick with the same starting five against Ole Miss this weekend. Competition for all spots is ongoing, of course, but Grimes said he's been satisfied with how his players have responded during the past few days.
"What was different about this game is when we got beat, we really got beat bad. We got flat smoked a few times," Grimes said. "A couple of guys got exposed a little bit. Hopefully that will be a good thing that they'll learn from. I think there were a couple guys that felt really bad about it after the game, as they should. We've been working on it since then."
Among those who received the wrong kind of exposure last weekend was right tackle Patrick Miller, who struggled to match Arkansas' speed along the perimeter. Grimes said the true freshmen used some improper techniques that allowed more experienced defenders to take advantage on a consistent basis.
