Watson facing hometown team
Please excuse if there are several more Mississippi State supporters sporting t-shirts and jerseys bearing the No. 20 on them Saturday than usual.
It's only Louis Watson's family and fan club.
With the Bulldogs taking on Watson's hometown team South Alabama this weekend he has been inundated with ticket requests to come see him play.
"I've got to get a lot of tickets," Watson said.
Growing up in Mobile, Ala., and graduating from St. Paul's Episcopal in 2008, Watson never thought he suit up against South Alabama. After all, that university did not even have a football program at the time.
The Jaguars fielded a team for the first time the following year and will play their first ever game against a Southeastern Conference opponent against Watson and the Bulldogs.
"I really didn't think I'd ever play against South Alabama," Watson said. "I didn't think they'd ever have a football team but they are an up and coming program and I'm excited to play them."
During his career in Starkville, Watson has appeared in 31 games including one start. He has notched 14 tackles including three this season.
