NOTEBOOK: DL says mental errors to blame for loss
AUBURN -- Clemson rushed for 320 yards inside the Georgia Dome last weekend, but the men primarily charged with keeping that number low consider that it a statistical anomaly.
Defensive tackle Gabe Wright said Monday that Clemson's big day was a function of mental and procedural errors rather than a lack of brawn.
"It comes down to the little things -- missed fits and missed tackles," said Wright, whose opinions were echoed by fellow tackles Jeffrey Whitaker and Angelo Blackson. We had guys bottled up plenty of times. So in a sense, yeah it hurts to see
a 7-yard gain turn into a 70-yard gain. But it also helps to know that it was just a missed tackle, not that a player could not do it. Not that it was anything overall that we can not fix."
