Spring Recap: If healthy, line a team strength
In 2011, the defensive line stole the show at the Orange and Blue Debut. This year things were a little bit different; not that the two springs can be compared.
Entering the 2012 spring, Florida knew it would learn fairly little about the top of its defensive line depth chart.
For starters, the Gators knew they would be without Dominique Easley (ACL) and Lerentee McCray (shoulder) this spring, both players who had earned considerable roles on the defense by the end of last season. Then starting Buck Ronald Powell tore his ACL during an odd play in the first half of the spring game.
Injuries weren't the only reason for the changes. Florida would eventually learn last season that plenty of its defensive line prowess was coming from going against a sub par offensive line. That seems to be an area of improvement coming out of spring.
