Mississippi State begins what they hope is a long and prosperous run in the postseason tonight.
State tips off the nightcap of the SEC Tournament tonight at 9 p.m. against Georgia inside the New Orleans Arena.
In 2009 MSU's four-game run to the SEC Tournament Championship began with UGA and they are hoping for more of the same tonight. Not only does Mississippi State need a win to improve their NCAA Tournament chances they will also be able to exact a little revenge on Georgia, who defeated State at home 70-68 in overtime on Feb. 11 starting a five-game losing streak.
UGA knocked down 11 3-pointers in the previous matchup and committed just four turnovers in 45 minutes of basketball at Humphrey Coliseum. MSU received 21 points from senior point guard Dee Bost but were unable to come away with the victory.
State has met Georgia 13 previous times in the SEC Tournament holding just a 3-8 record against them, the worst against any other opponent. Mississippi State however does hold a one game lead in the overall series 52-51.
