Paul Konyndyk
SpartanMag.com EAST LANSING - Michigan State throttled an overmatched Central Michigan team in a final non-conference tune-up before Big Ten play starts this week.
The Spartans limited Central Michigan to 112 yards of total offense and picked off Central Michigan quarterbacks four times in the 45-7 victory.
Michigan State also generated 484 yards of total offense including 197 net rushing yards against the Chippewas.
The Spartans put up big numbers despite an off day from fifth-year senior quarterback Kirk Cousins who was 13-of-22 for 213 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
The win puts Michigan State at 3-1 on the season heading into the Big Ten opener at Columbus.
