Bonner is ready, ready
Wade Bonner began his career in the backfield for Mississippi State as a redshirt freshman in 2008.
The senior will finish his time in maroon and white as the Bulldogs starting safety, a role he has embraced since the arrival of Dan Mullen.
"Sometimes it goes through my head," Bonner said of his days as a running back. "But when Coach Mullen got here I asked him what he wanted me to play and he said safety so safety is where I went. There is nothing like having the ball in your hands and sometimes I think about it but I'm a team guy and whatever the team needs is what I'm going to do."
It was that 2008 season in his debut that Bonner's career got off to a shaky start against Louisiana Tech in the opener. Bonner fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half as MSU fell 22-14 that day.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pounder has relived that play plenty of times but does not place any special importance on this weekend's rematch against Tech other than the obvious.
