Excitement, disappointment in QB decision
When Barrett Trotter first walked onto the Auburn practice fields Thursday afternoon, he felt a little different. He felt the relief of a battle ended, the excitement of being the victor and the new responsibilities he had inherited.
Trotter, the junior from Briarwood Christian in Birmingham, had been named the Tigers' starting quarterbacks minutes before.
"I was glad that it was over with, that I was the starter," he said. "And then feeling like I had to really get ready to lead this team."
Trotter won the job after competing with sophomore Clint Moseley and true freshman Kiehl Frazier. The three were informed of the decision during separate meetings with coach Gene Chizik and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Gus Malzahn shortly before the 5 p.m. practice.
"There was definitely a lot of concern, a lot of nerves going into the office wondering what was going to happen," said Trotter.
Coming out of the meeting was a little easier.....
