Caleb King says what's past, is past.
With that, the fifth-year senior said Thursday he's focused and determined to make an impact in this his final season with the team.
crazy," King said. "I'm definitely motivated. It's my last year, one and done."
King certainly put on a positive front.
The Norcross native was all smiles as he addressed a small group of reporters, although one question he wouldn't touch dealt with his suspension from the Liberty Bowl for missing some required academic meetings.
"I don't think I can speak on that," King said. "But it was a mistake and it won't happen again."
King, who has muscled up to 223 pounds, didn't elaborate further, saying he's only concerned with what's going to happen the rest of the spring and to do whatever he can to put himself in position for playing time this fall.
He also said he wants to serve as a mentor to incoming freshman Isaiah Crowell, who some believe will wind up starting the season-opener against Boise State in the Georgia Dome.
"I know when I came in 2007 it was similar to what I experienced. I understand what he's going through and I understand what's happening right now. Of course, he's probably going to come in here and be a great player but I think it's (the hype) more for the fans so they can be excited about next year," King said. "He's still got to come in and work hard because I know that the rest of us, me Carlton Thomas, Washaun Ealey, Ken Malcome, we're all working hard busting our tails but I know once he comes in he's going to do the same thing. I can't wait to get him under my wings and go from there."
King, who has rushed for 1,271 career yards for Georgia and 10 touchdowns, said Crowell will have to adjust one thing very quickly once he does arrive on campus.
"From my experience it's the speed of the game," King said. "Plus, you're going to block. You've got to learn how to block and you've got to learn quick because my freshman year it was Kelin Johnson and B. (Brandon) Miller coming off the edge. I had to learn quick."
