O'Brien talks Orange offer
Syracuse remains focused on making a strong connection in the state of Michigan and they can do that with running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley being so recognized in the area. Last recruiting class the Orange were able to grab one defensive tackle out of the state and now they have their eyes set on another tackle in Danny O'Brien.
"Yeah, Syracuse came in with the offer on Friday. It was awesome it was my second offer in two days, so it was cool to get those offers on back to back days. I like Coach Tyrone Wheatley a lot we have talked a few times."
With O'Brien being from Michigan and Wheatley as well the two have a connection and that is something the prospect likes.
"Our relationship is good Coach Wheatley is from Michigan and played at Michigan. That lets us connect on a few levels especially him being a Detroit kid. He gives it to you straight and tells you how it is."
Despite having a solid relationship with his recruiting coach O'Brien does not know much about the school.
"I do not know much about the school because I have never even been to New York. From what I have been told it they have a beautiful campus and sweet facilities."
This summer he will get his first look at what Syracuse has to offer.
"I think in the summer I will make a trip out to Syracuse with my Mother to chick it out."
As far as current visits go O'Brien will be hitting the road and heading into SEC country very soon.
"I am going down to Tennessee next weekend for their Junior Day. Then I will probably be headed out to Iowa and Wisconsin in the spring."
All of the schools looking at O'Brien want him as a defensive tackle and he talked about his game and what he thinks coaches like.
"They are all looking for me to play defensive tackle," O'Brien said. "I have a quick burst off of the ball. I can play the run gaps and then if I have to I can rush the passer. I would say that I am kind of a hybrid."
A final decision for O'Brien will not be coming anytime soon, but he does have an idea of when he hopes to make a decision.
"I want to commit to a school at the end of my senior season or maybe during."
