Gator Bowl Preview
Mississippi State will make its first bowl appearance in three years this afternoon when it takes the field at 2:30 p.m. CST against Michigan in the Gator Bowl from EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla.
The 21st ranked Bulldogs will play in their 14th bowl but will be making their debut in the Gator Bowl along with playing Michigan on the gridiron for the first time in school history.
MSU holds a 7-6 all-time bowl record having won three straight with a 1999 Peach Bowl victory over Clemson, the 2000 Independence Bowl against Texas A&M and the 2007 Liberty Bowl topping Central Florida.
Dan Mullen's Bulldogs enter the game with an 8-4 mark having won its regular season finale 31-23 against Ole Miss for their second straight Egg Bowl victory. The four teams that Mississippi State lost two have a combined 42-7 record with six of those seven losses coming against one another.
