Thomas Scores 22 as Melrose Bounces Back
In the words of a ubiquitious song that has been covered scores of time, but was made most famous by late jazz legend Dinah Washington in 1959 when she won a Grammy with her version:
"What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours."
Yes, just 24 hours after after getting bullied at Craigmont, trailing by as many as 24 points before heading into the half losing by 20 (41-21), it was the Melrose Golden Wildcats' turn to jump on an opponent, keyed by a relentless pressure defense, staying in ther back court for easy bucket after easy bucket.
This night, however, unlike when the Chiefs had to hang on for dear life in a narrow, 60-56 triumph, Melrose kept Raleigh-Egypt at bay. They led the Pharaohs 24-2 at the end of the first quarter, and 38-14 at the half, cruising to a dominant 70-50 win at F. M. Campbell Arena in the heart of Orange Mound, Memphis, TN.
