Fulse set to visit Tech
Fort Meade (Fla.) tight end Brandon Fulse will be in Lubbock this weekend on an official visit to Texas Tech. The 2011 standout is looking forward to the opportunity to continue building a relationship with the coaching staff in West Texas.
"I'm excited to see how I'll get along with the coaches, for sure. Because of the amount of time I'm going to spend with them over the next few years it's an important part of this whole process. I've got to find a place where I can be comfortable," Fulse said. "I want to see how well I would get along with those guys. I want to take a look at the campus lifestyle to figure out how comfortable I would be playing away from home. I just want to get a good feel for what it would be like to be a part of their program."
Fulse has so far grown comfortable in his relationship with assistant coach Chad Scott, a fellow Florida native.
"Coach Scott is real cool guy. He's from Florida like me, and he's given me kind of an idea of what it's like to make that transition from out here to Texas. Leaving the state is no problem for me, though. If I had to, I'd go to Hawaii and play."
The 6-foot-4, 247-pounder still lists a top seven of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami (FL), Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas Tech. So far, he's taken a visit to Auburn in early November, and he now has officials planned with three others: Tech on the 10th, Tennessee on the 14th, and North Carolina on January 7th.
"I still haven't made up my mind on the last one just yet, but I'm probably going to take all five of my officials so there will more than likely be somebody in that fifth slot here soon."
Rivals' No. 10 tight end in the country is looking to bring his recruitment to an end fairly soon after his round of official visits has been completed.
"My mindset is that I'll be ready to make a decision as soon as I take my last visit. I think I'll know where I want to go."
Right now, it sounds like Texas Tech finds themselves firmly in the thick of things and in good standing with Fulse.
"It's been really good with me and Tech. They haven't had any tight ends in a long time and like Coach Scott has told me, I've got a fair shot at coming in and contributing early," he said. "This weekend I'm going to try and see how I get along with Coach Tommy Tuberville and some of the other coaches I haven't been around as much. I'd say heading into this weekend that I'm very high on Texas Tech. We'll see what happens after the trip."
Aside from Tech, Fulse holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami (FL), Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee, and West Virginia amongst others.
