Saying goodbye to the seniors
Mississippi State fans will get to bid farewell Saturday to 17 seniors as they step onto Scott Field for the final time.
Leon Berry, Emmanuel Gatling, J.C. Brignone, Maurice Langston, Phillip Freeman, Mark Lynn, Patrick Hanrahan, Pernell McPhee, Brandon Henderson, Reggie Odom, John McMillan, Zach Smith, Mark Melichar, Chris White, Derek Sherrod, K.J. Wright and Thomas Webb will all be honored in a pregame ceremony for senior day prior to the Arkansas game.
"They are great kids," said head coach Dan Mullen. "We came in and this is only the second season that we've been here and from day one they've bought into everything that we've tried to do as a program. They've believed in what we are teaching and have been able to reap some rewards and have some success of that. They've also set a great foundation for the program's future. They are going to be able to come back 20 or 30 years from now with their kids and grandkids and be proud of what they started as a championship program."
Four of those players - Sherrod, McPhee, Wright and White - served as team captains this season and have been some of the veteran leaders helping lead the charge in the Bulldogs bowl run.
