Bulldogs win sixth straight
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Once again No. 23 Mississippi State was able to do just enough to keep its winning streak intact.
The Bulldogs were able to hold off Kentucky 24-17 for their sixth straight victory.
"There were opportunities to make some big plays and we missed some," said MSU head coach Dan Mullen. "We had fumbled snaps, missed some open receivers down the field but we came away with the win and that is the most important statistic."
MSU (7-2, 3-2) picked up 325 yards of offense churning out 214 yards on the ground.
Vick Ballard eclipsed the 100-yard plateau for the third time this season carrying 14 times for 103 yards and a touchdown in his first game back from an ankle injury.
"I had a lot of rest and was able to heal and prepare for tonight," Ballard said. "After that first touchdown run I had a huge confidence boost so I kept pushing it and the ankle never hurt once."
Quarterback Chris Relf finished the night with 190 yards of offense and two touchdowns. Relf completed 7-of-16 passing for 111 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while adding 79 yards and a score on the ground on 16 attempts.
