Louisville impresses Mack with lopsided win
Before Ryan Mack (6-4, 310, OL) made his commitment to Louisville in July, Memphis was one of the finalists on the three-star player's list. On Saturday, those two teams met, and Mack was able to get an impression of his future team, as the Cardinals man-handled the Tigers, 56-0.
"They showed me an outing this week," Mack said Sunday night. "It made my commitment stronger."
At one point, Mack was scheduled to take his official visit to Louisville on this weekend, but he said things didn't work out on his end, so he had to cancel the trip. Mack has helped his Wooddale (Memphis, Tenn.) program to a 5-2 record so far this season. He said he remains in contact with the UofL coaching staff. "They are telling me they are ready for me to get up there and start the trend off right with the offensive line," Mack noted.
Until then, Mack said he would continue to work on his footwork on the field and his academics off the field. He said he takes the ACT on Oct. 23, which should be the last hurdle to him gaining eligibility.
Mack also reported that Memphis continues to recruit him, and that Tennessee is coming on hard of late, offering him an official visit later in the year. Is he interested in giving the Vols a look? "A little, because they are the in-state team," he admitted. "I'll probably take an official up there to see what's going on.
