Mullen gives mixed reviews on win
Mississippi State may have had a 566-yard offensive output and a 33-point victory on Saturday.
But against an inferior opponent like Alcorn State the victory left plenty to be desired by some of the Bulldog faithful and even head coach Dan Mullen gave the performance mixed reviews.
"Looking back at the game it was a little sloppy," Mullen said. "It was a little herky-jerky in our performance. We had 15 explosive plays on offense of over 12-yards or more and came out and created 15 negative yardage plays on defense. But then to balance it out in the second half we have four false starts, a three-and-out and two turnovers. I don't think we were full throttle the whole game. We got a little sloppy there in the second half with the offense. The defense had a bad second quarter giving up 200 yards of offense but didn't give up a point in the second half. They tightened up and made up for the offense being sloppy in the second half."
