The Beaver defense chose the PAC 10 opener as their coming out party as they tallied six sacks and three interceptions on the day. Led by tackle Stephen Paea who tallied six tackles including two sacks, one pass break-up and a forced fumble to help lead the Beavers to victory. It was close however as safety Lance Mitchell was a quarter point behind Paea after he added an interception and two break-ups to his six tackles.
